About Us

Our Networks

MidTECH is part of a national network of nine regional NHS innovation hubs, which is coordinated by the NHS National Innovation Centre (NIC)

MidTECH is also part of a regional network that encompasses industrial and academic partners, with whom we work to bring forward new innovations.  We have also established links with a number of West Midlands based venture capital organisations specifically interested in funding opportunities in the healthcare sector.

Medical Technologies Cluster Programme

The medical technologies sector has been identified as one of the priority areas for the region's economy.  With funding of £2.7 million from Advantage West Midlands (the regional development agency), this two year programme was launched in May 2006 to deliver the vision of its Cluster Opportunity Group (COG).  The project aims to promote diversification, innovation, product development and access to procurement for medical technologies companies in the region.  It is administered by Medilink West Midlands, the regional trade association for SMEs in the health technologies sector, and is jointly delivered by MidTECH and a number of other partner organisations including Healthcare Purchasing Consortium, CHID, Staffordshire BIC, SETPOINT Staffordshire and Coventry City Council.  This joint delivery enables a collaborative and joined-up approach to the needs of the region's medical technologies industry.
